I’ve always been a strategic thinker, adventurous, and outgoing with a variety of different hobbies and interests. So I guess I was always going to end up in marketing – and my career path was never going to be linear.
I have more than 10 years’ marketing experience in both the public and private sectors. I’ve worked numerous fields including tourism and economic development, destination marketing and business process outsourcing. I’ve managed bids and tenders in an international client environment, conducted economic impact research and delivered multi-stakeholder projects. Understanding how both sides operate has been valuable for me when creating marketing strategies and pitch documents. I already have a good idea of what will or won’t work, so I can cut out a lot of the to-and-fro that makes these processes time-consuming.
More recently, I developed an AI marketing strategy for a UK-based firm which helped them understand their customer journey a lot better, and streamline internal CRM processes to increase customer satisfaction and retention. I also spent eight months working with a multinational to develop a marketing strategy in line with the United Nations’ Global Sustainability Goals (SDGs) and had the opportunity to present it to UN representatives – a major career highlight!
Making Things Happen
Another highlight was self-funding my MBA through the University of Nottingham (UK), graduating with distinction in the top 3% of the business faculty and becoming one of six MBA students worldwide to be shortlisted for the 2020 AMBA Student of The Year award. Inspired To Uplift Others
I believe in the power of education to change the world and I feel driven to use my skills and experience to help uplift others – particularly women on the African continent – through access to education and mentorship. I hope to do this through my passion project, the Sarabi Foundation.
